The Federal Government following the Royal Commission into institutionalised sexual abuse has set up a National Redress Scheme to ensure that thousands of victims of sexual abuse that were underage have an automatic right to claim some predetermined damages and money from these large institutions.
The institutions in question would include public and private schools, hospitals, numerous religious organisations such as The Uniting Church, The Salvation Army, The YMCA and Scouts Australia, Catholics, Anglicans, Jewish, Muslim and Protestant groups particularly their male and female schools, Australia wide Scout movements, retirement homes, girls and boys’ orphanages and homes.
