Compensation for a car accident
In NSW, anyone — drivers, passengers, motorcycle riders, and pedestrians — injured in a motor vehicle accident can make a claim for compensation.
Claims can be made for:
- Expenses related to the medical treatment of an injury.
- Loss of earnings for time off paid work (or self-employed work) because of injuries.
- Expenses related to domestic and personal care needed for recovery.
Public hospital treatment and ambulance costs are covered by CTP premiums. Any expenses related to the damage of loss of a vehicle or property are not eligible for financial compensation under the ‘Act 1999’.
