$440k Settlement for Cleaner Bitten by a Dog

Case Overview
  • At the time of her injury, our client was working as a cleaner at a private residence in Kurrajong.
  • During the course of her employment, our client needed to take the rubbish out to the bins outside. She knew that the owners had two large dogs so she purposely took the long way around to put the rubbish in the bin. As she was walking outside, one of the dogs came and leapt towards her.

The dog was not muzzled at the time and our client fell with her arms forward. As a result of the fall, the plaintiff sustained:

  • serious injuries to her head, neck, shoulder and back
  • fractured her left arm and shoulder
  • injured her left wrist and fingers and right wrist
 

Over time, her physical limitations and conditions, as well her psychological co-morbid conditions such as depression, shock and anxiety had an increasing impact on her life.
